The mascot of RGCON-2010, depicts the theme of the conference as a fusion of Greek and Hindu mythological concepts.
The rod of Asclepius is an ancient symbol associated with the Greek God of Medicine and Healing, Asclepius. It consists of a serpent, entwined around a staff. This pierces the crab (signifying cancer), indicating, that modern medical science, has the potential to cure both male and female cancers, depicted as a symbol of ancient Hindu mythology of Ardhanarishwar - an androgynous deity composed of Lord Shiva and his consort Goddess Shakti.
This enables the patients to emerge victorious out of the clutches of the dreaded disease with structurally and functionally intact bodies. They express this victory with both arms spread out. |
